Doorways and Beetles (by Joe)

I took masses of photos in Ouro Preto, one of the lovely old colonial towns in Brazil that Laura refers to in her blog (above).

I loved the town generally, but was charmed specifically by: a) the heavy, solid old doorways to every house (often coulourfully painted), and; b) the incredible concentration of old VW Beetle cars (we never established why there were so many in this small town, but wondered if it might relate to their ability to cope with ridiculously steep cobbled streets?).
