Half a world away (by Joe)

We haven't checked this out properly, but we reckon the small city of Dunedin on the south east coast of South Island, New Zealand must be - give or take 50 miles - just about as far away as we'll get from the UK on this trip. In fact it must be just about as far as one can get on mainland (18982 km says the sign - see top).

By coincidence, our arrival here happened to mark, to the day, the half-way point of our 10-month trip.

So, half a world away and half-way through our time, we are now homeward bound ... it's just that the journey home incorporates a further month in New Zealand and another 4 around South America!

Joe
